Jimmy,

This is great! I think I'll be able to get this going. Thanks for the manual. Great 'customer support,' especially for a dummy like me. I really like the bike. It has been great for me, a 58-yr-old former girl-jock who lives in Boulder and doesn't ski, so I need a winter home-sport.

My LC-R100 rower is now about two years old and has held up very well against both very heavy usage and a heavy user. The fact that the rower is still steadily used is testimony to its construction and performance, and the results it produces. I have recently experienced the need for minor repairs and was very pleased with the ease and quickness of getting the replacement part. Thank you - it is a pleasure to deal with a company providing quality products and superior service. The only thing that gets to me is that the pacer boat never lets up - that guy is tough.

Good Evening,

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much we are enjoying our LifeCore 1000. I have had it for several weeks now and it is even better than the advertising even suggests. It is silent. It is comfortable with the adjustable stride. It is rigid with no shaking. The setup was smooth. The LCD screen is spectacular and easy to track along with my workout. I have not programmed a routine yet but I will be doing that shortly. My wife has been a TredClimber (Bowflex) but now she is spending more and more time on the LC1000. She likes the smoothness and also the fact that, since the unit is so quite, she can actually hear the flat panel tv that we have mounted in the workout room. Since my office is just down the hall from the exercise room, her workouts on the LC1000 do not disturb me because I cannot even hear the machine in action. I did want to tell you that the two Allen screws on either side of the central pillar worked loose creating a little shakiness but that was quickly remedied by lifting the collar and tightening the two screws with the provided tools. The unit is a marvel of simplicity!!! And, I am back in jeans that I had not been able to wear for a while. That is the real testimonial!!

Regards,
Henry Autry

Dear LifeCore:

The purpose of this message is to convey our heartfelt thanks for your quality equipment and unparalleled professionalism! Before meeting you, we were a statistic. We own multiple homes and as a result, we've been active members of three fitness facilities. Sadly, we just floundered in our attempts to work out and be responsible in the area of fitness. Then we paid a visit to one of your stores. We were impressed with the selection and that this wasn't a warehouse selling arms. Instead, your staff was courteous and consultative. Our needs were assessed and we were provided with real options.

Your LifeCore treadmill and exercise bicycle are top-of-the-line! We've also given them a real beating and months later have nothing but praise to report! We now enjoy gym-quality equipment sleekly designed and situated conveniently in our home. In today's competitive marketplace, some companies attempt to thrive in quality; others in customer service; others in price. LifeCore excels in all three! It's no wonder so many folks are voting with their dollars and ordering LifeCore products!

Thanks for making a difference in the marketplace and a difference in our health!

I just wanted to take one last opportunity to tell you what a great company you have, and a great machine you've engineered. Again, I was honored you took the time to personally answer my questions, and as is always the case in business, that kind of personal commitment filters down to all those with whom you work. Garret has been extremely helpful in his communications with me, and I've told him I'm fine and enjoying the rower.

A short background to give you some idea what a great "gift" this machine has turned out to be for me. When I was 18 years old (I'm now going on 60) I rowed in the junior eight for the Vesper Boat Club in the Schuylkill "Navy" in Philadelphia. That was 1965, the year our senior eight won the gold medal in the Olympics in Japan. I was 6' and 148 lbs (none of it fat); today I'm 5'9'', 225 lbs, wearing most of it in my gut. I guess all guys look back on some "apogee" of their life (aside from marriage, kids, business, and the rest). Something that was truly their thing, something he still dreams about in old age.

When I'm using your quiet, sturdy rower, I close my eyes, and I'm back on the Schuylkill; in fact, its a lot better. The pull-through is a smooth as through the water, but without the choppiness of waves, and the need to "set-up" the boat. All energy, concentration and exertion is applied to the "oars", and you become one with the machine and that river in my dreams.

More than any car, house, or entertainment in the last 42 years, this rower of yours is the best item I've purchased by far; there's nothing like reaching back to those golden years; your rowing machine is my time machine.

Thank you, and All the Best to you and your company.

I am very happy with my recent purchase of the LC1000 elliptical trainer and would absolutely tell others to not hesitate on purchasing from your company. I did a lot of research prior to purchase and although it comes with many great features such as programs, warranty, ect., the reason I decided on yours was simply it's range of motion feels the way an elliptical trainer should.

I use an elliptical at my local YMCA four to five times a week, so I knew what I was looking for. I was mainly buying this for other family members that want to work out at home.

The LC1000 has far exceeded my expectations and I prefer to use it over the expensive gym models. I have been going to the gym to lift weights and now come home to use the LC1000.

The LC1000 truly has a great simulated running motion, is comfortably and yet really works the muscles of both the lower and upper body.

This is a follow up to my previous comments posted on this site, regarding the great LifeCore support after purchasing the LC990 elliptical.

I purchased the LC990 elliptical after my Nordic Track ellipse suddenly died without any chance of resurrection. After continuous use, the LC990 surpasses my experience with Nordic Track in quality and price.

This is a smooth, quiet ride in both forward and reverse motion. I use the dual action handles for the additional upper body workout.

After exhaustive research pointed me to this machine, the big test was actually using it.

Bottom line: I made the right choice.

Reading reviews here and doing any research on the Internet will speak of the virtues of the LC-990.

I am writing to address the support after the purchase.

I had some questions on the LC-990 and thought who better to answer the questions then the company who makes it. I was reluctant to call since I didn’t want to get some corporate non-answers to my questions or leave a message without any return call.

When I finally called, a person named Roger answered the phone. All my questions were answered enthusiastically along with insights to the development of their machines. I was left with a feeling that I could call back anytime, knowing this company cared about the ‘after the purchase’ folks like me.

Oh yeah … did I mention Roger is the owner of the company? If I ever need to call back with any questions, I don’t expect Roger to answer, however, I also wouldn’t be surprised.

Thanks to Roger and all the LifeCore staff for an excellent machine and support !

I bought this bike LC-900R as my way to exercise prior to gastric bypass surgery. It got me a little fitter prior to the op. Post op exercise is very important and the surgeon thought a recumbent bike was a perfect way to get the exercise I need. I have been using it daily from almost straight after the op, and I'm feeling great. I'm moving on to more aerobic exercise and it will be really convenient to use the built in heart monitoring facilities. It's a great bike, and the company has been super responsive to any question I've had.

I did an exhaustive search for rowing machines — looked at magnetic resistance, air resistance, water resistance, pistons, and every combination thereof. The LifeCore R100 stood out head and shoulders above the rest.

First of all, the build quality is superb. It has the feel of a club-quality machine that will last for many, many years. All actions are smooth throughout the full range of motion — no jerkiness or dead spots. Plenty of resistance levels ensure you can easily customize the workout regardless of your capabilities or goals.

While smooth operation is a major plus, it’s also clear LifeCore did their homework when it comes to ergonomics. The seat is very large and comfortably padded. That may sound like a minor point, but anything that adds to the comfort of the machine encourages you to use it often! The foot rests are angled for comfort and the articulating heel ensures you won’t strain your ankles regardless of the length or intensity of the workout. The hand grip bar is angled so you don’t strain shoulder or back muscles, and has a very effective nonslip padding. The workout computer is simple to use, provides clear feedback on your progress, and is easily angled so you can see the screen.

Toss in quiet operation and an outstanding warranty, and you have a rower than is unmatched in the market. Well done LifeCore! Thank you!!

Your Lifecore 990 elliptical is a great value.

I purchased three other elliptical cross-trainers before finding your web site and then local store.

All three of the others were rated for Home use and all three broke within the first 48 hours (the Icon fitness unit from Wal Mart lasted exactly 12 minutes!. after I spent over one hour carefully assembling it) One other was even an expensive German made unit that needed a repair in the first day!

Your machine fits me better and, while still very compact, it has a more "full size" fit and feel for my oversized American frame.

The workout is great and I am losing the weight I set out to lose by doing 2, 20-30- workouts per day.The Lifecore is quiet and comfortable for me and my family, as it is also used by my 17 year old daughter and my wife.

It is true that the oversized foot pedals are great and the computer is 1st rate. I also really like the option of running the entire unit on the internal battery and hot having to place the unit near a wall outlet and run a wire over the floor! This self generating feature is not to be overlooked as placement of the machine near a door, widow or even in the middle of the room directly in front of the TV is a really nice option.

To me you are selling Cadillac luxury at a Kia price. Keep it up and I hope more people will avoid all the hassles I did (buying inferior units first) and simply purchase your machine first.

Your truly,

I was using a competitor's brand elliptical and was totally dissatisfied. I have had the LC 990 for a couple of weeks and the performance and quality is the difference of night and day. The workout is smooth and I get it in less time because the LC 990 is such a better machine to workout on.

I purchased the LifeCore 990. I was very impressed with the quality and durability of the product. I used to have the Nordic Track elliptical and this beats it hands down for the same price. Well done.

I purchased the LifeCore LC 990 Elliptical. I am not a small person I weighed 266 lbs when I started. Almost purely based on the exercise, after 1 month, I am down 10 lbs. I was very impressed with the packaging There were very few parts to deal with. It took longer to read the instructions than it did to put together. It comes with all the tools you need and all the parts (nuts bolts etc) were already in place so you did'nt have to guess what went where.

The machine itself is well constructed and is smooth and relatively quite. I have had two other ellipticals over the years and they are junk compared to the LC 990. The computer dynamically adjusts the resistance based on which of the 12 programs you select.I have every expectation that it will last a long time.

Before deciding on the purchase of my LC-990 I had done quite a lot of research regarding elliptical trainers. I looked at machines rated all the way from home use through commercial grade trainers. I spoke with my orthopedic surgeon, three certified physical therapists, and several owners of different machines. After all of my research, I choose the LifeCORE LC-990 for my purchase.

After removing the packing material I was immediately struck by the commercial quality of the machine’s components and the heavy duty gauge of the metal pieces. One part that particularly surprised me was the "Handle Bar Post", part #2. This post appears to be heavy enough to stop a car (just like the ones you might see in a parking lot).

Now that I have used my LC-990 I am certainly glad that I invested the amount of time and effort that I did into my decision. The machine is virtually silent, the movement is smooth and stable, and it is extremely well engineered. At 6'2" and 225 lbs. I was looking for a machine that was rated to handle a person of my size without testing the upper reaches of its rating. I was pleased that there is a considerable margin of capacity with the LC-990 which has a rating of 350 lbs., a much higher rating than most other machines. With the few questions that I had about the machine, I was pleased to find that your customer service is responsive and helpful, something which is a rarity now. Overall, the unit is a terrific value especially when compared to other machines that I was considering. I could not find a manufacturer that offers a warranty any where near as long or as comprehensive as LifeCORE. In fact many manufacturers only offered a measly 90 day worth of coverage. Those types of warranties are absolutely useless in my opinion and it should serve as a screaming warning to any consumer to avoid them, unless of course you plan on using the machine as a clothes rack. By contrast LifeCORE offers an amazing full 5 year warranty on both the mechanics and electronics; I dare anyone to find better!

I wanted to just take the time to say thank you. As you know we have had problems off and on with our elliptical for the past six months and you have had your guys try to what they could to repair those problems. Now with your lifecore elliptical in place it has allowed me to focus on other items in our day to day operation. The machine was and still is not only working great, but it looks good too. Our guests have actually taken time to comment on the bike, of which all have been on the positive side.

Thank you again for your great service and a great piece of gym equipment.

My son tried the LC-990 elliptical machine out and said that it felt as good as the ones he uses in his gym in Hollywood.

Just wanted you to know that we are now the proud owners of the LC-990 which I have affectionately named "Ergo", I know you will figure that one out!

We went to "At Home Fitness" yesterday, Monday, and met with Greg. He was very gracious and well informed about the machine, gave us a lot of good pointers about it and not to over do it to start out...good advice, I'm sure! The second I stepped onto the LC-990 I could feel the quality of this machine, it is well built for sure. Super smooth to operate and totally what we wanted and were looking for!!!

Greg did give us the lowest on-line price I had found and even had a machine already put together and helped to load it in our truck. Stan is happy about the no assembly required, he's good with tools but hey...already put together, you can't beat that!

Stan used "Ergo" this morning for 5 minutes and as he said, "I can already feel the burn, this puppy is going to get us into great shape!" I will be using it first thing tomorrow and am really looking forward to it.

I am so glad that I contacted LifeCore Fitness at the corporate level and so pleased that you emailed us back so quickly.

We may be middle aged, but we don't have to look or feel like it, not anymore! You make a wonderful elliptical trainer, just wanted you to know and to thank you again for all your assistance!

My wife and I did extensive research on rowers before settling on the LifeCore R100, and so far we have been extremely pleased. The unit is well built, easy to use, and an excellent workout. We were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it is (after reading some other reviews). While not small by any means, it takes up less space than we anticipated, and it is simple to fold up if necessary. This is our first experience with a rowing machine (outside of a club), and it has been a great addition to our home "gym" (we have weights, a stairstep machine, cross-country ski machine and spinning bike). Time is always the hardest commodity to come by, and even 20 minutes on the LifeCore is a very good workout. It takes a few minutes to become familiar with the "computer," and it seems a little daunting at first, but it quickly becomes easy to understand. For our purposes, the different options and programs included are more than adequate. The only complaint is that the seat is pretty hard, but a folded towel helps quite a bit. It is easier and more enjoyable for me to work out on a rowing machine than the other devices we have, simply because it is a quick workout and I get all the exercise I can handle before getting bored or uncomfortable; not the case with some of our other machines. The adjustable "fan" is a nice touch in providing a cooling breeze. I've found that 20 to 30 minutes on the LifeCore is a great warmup to weightlifting, if you're into that, and a good adjunct to my tennis game through working the legs and the upper body. Investing this amount of money was not something we took lightly, but we learned long ago that you pretty much get what you pay for. All in all, we are very pleased with the purchase of a rowing machine in general and the LifeCore in particular.

I have looked at and used a ton of rowing machines over the past 10 years and I almost bought a Concept One. Made the choice to buy one of these and I cannot be more pleased. If your looking for a durable, comfortable and quiet rowing machine, you cannot go wrong buying the R100. AWESOME machine.....

[...] set-up took about one hour with one person. Directions were easy to follow. Accessories (mat, chest monitor) are nice add-ons and I couldn't find any local retailers that could come within $200 of their price.

I use the product 3 days a week. It makes me feel better, and I've lost 1/2 inch around my waist in less than 2 months.

Well pleased with machine. Well worth the money. Very sturdy and well built. After intensive research I chose this make and model and I am very satisfied with the purchase. I look forward to seeing how well it holds up to frequent use over the years.

After doing nearly three weeks of research on residential style rowing machines, I settled on the LifeCore R100. I had used air and water rowers previously, and think the combination air/magnetic resistance in the R100 is ideal. The rowing motion is very smooth during each stroke. The magnetic resistance allows you to increase the setting as much as you desire for an intense workout. I have never needed to set the resistance higher than 6 to get my HR up to 160. Overall, the only slight negative that is mentioned is that the foot straps loosen. However, after reading the previous responses, I am anxious to try running the strap back through the clip to prevent it from slipping during my next workout. Noise is quieter than the pure air machines at my gym, but significantly louder than my elliptical machine. I can still watch TV while on the rower (at a very elevated volume), but I find myself preferring to listen to music and watch the LCD screen instead. Overall, a great machine and great workout. I can't imagine a better overall value in a rowing machine.

This is a very easy machine to use. I love the heart monitor.

I could not be happier with my rowing machine. I grew up on a lake and would row every day. Now that I am in my 60's and no where near a lake, I'm enjoying the rowing experience once again. It's great exercise and so easy to use.

Preset routines are easy to use and keep you from getting bored when using the unit multiple times a week.

I gave up sport 15 years ago, I'm 36. Then I found out I had a bit of cholesterol, and I guessed I could lose a few kgs. I didn't want to be tight to a gym. But I wanted a "committing" purchase so that I would have a good incentive to stick to a training plan. I checked all the machines available, and after a lot of research, I found out a rowing machine would be ideal in that it has you working on many muscles, and is often qualified as a perfect "cardio training" exercise. This is equipment is NOT for muscle building of course. But it's a perfect candidate to maintain a good physical condition. I practise once a week and aim at twice a week.I'm really an amateur but regarding gadgets and technology, I know how to compare, read forums, etc..I did all this for this important investment of course, and ended up with the Lifecor R100. So what's in it that's so good ?[...] So the computer fitted on the machine is very useful to make it "enjoyable": set your duration, distance, heart rate target, number of strokes, whatever you want to make the exercise compulsive, or challenging, you'll end up staring at the computer and time will fly.- Noise: you'll read a LOT of reviews complaining about noise, the R100 will definitely let you handle a conversation while exercising, but you'll want to keep your breath and listen to low volume music or TV instead. the R100 lets you do that, this is a massive pro for me.- It comes with a chest heart beat meter (mind though: Lifecore doesn't mention that on their web site or brochure! but forums and customer service again confirmed), that communicates with the computer. It was a mandatory equipment for me as I aimed at setting the pace so that I could be in the maximum fat burning zone. You enter your age, weight, etc..and the computer will get you the resistance needed . There are 16 levels of resistance thanks to a magnetically powered "brake". Plenty enough to make you work, but again, this is not muscle building, it's cardio training, check what your objective really is.- The overall construction, well my title says it all, it's engineered to last, period. we're talking about heavy stuff, resistant material, aluminium and steel), resting for the feet is perfect and adjustable, the seat is larger than usual, and comfortable, the handle is solid , foam is highly resistant, the whole thing reminds you more of a German machine tool than a Chinese toy (no offense). Yet, they make it foldable, with wheels, so that you can easily hide it in a (deep) closet. But I'm sure if you're into this kind of kit, you'll let it sit unfolded in your basement or dedicated room.Overall, I see no con to this equipment. The price is above average, but it can't be considered as a con if it comes with the quality. So I would score very highly the R100 in terms of value for money. Their lower range product is surely of the same built, the main difference being the computer. I wouldn't trade it personally as I like this scientific/rational approach, but you may want to.I hope this review was useful, if you read a bit about rowing machines, I'm sure you'll come down to this one, if you can afford it, it's a no brainer.

I need to exercise on a regular basis because I'm Diabetic and this rowing machine does it all for less cost!

I began using a rowing machine at the gym. I really liked it, so when I decided to set up a gym in my home, a rower was a must. I actually like this rower better than the ones the gym has. The only complaint I have is the noise, but that's no big deal for me because I use headphones to hear the TV I watch while I work out. I love it. It is a great machine and a great price!

Great rowning machine. After a year still works great. The built in heart rate monitor gets easily confused if another device is in use close by. This causes the heart rate to go off the chart until the other device stops transmitting. (I think one of my neighbors has something similar) I believe the new generation transmitters and recievers don't suffer from this problem as they are uniquely keyed to each other.Still... for the price it was worth it as a monitor and strap was around[$], which was still cheaper than anywhere else.

I am a runner and use this for cross training, improved my running times and is used often because it is fun and works.

This product is easy to use and has helped in my overall weight loss goal.

Daily low impact aerobic conditioning.

I use the rower at least 5 days a week and the large number of programs allows me to never get bored. The worst thing is that the foot straps loosen after about 15 minutes of hard rowing but its nothing to stop for a few seconds, pull them tight and resume rowing...

Full body workout without any strain on your joints. Helps my surfing

I am a 63 year old woman. I get up at 5:30 AM 6 days a week, 20 minutes on treadmill and 5 - 10 minutes on rower right now. I am trying to lose those middle pounds and work on overall strength without breaking any bones. This rower is near perfect for me!

Love this product. It's better than the one my gym offers. It's sturdy, comfortable, glides easily, adjusts easily, and gives you a good workout. The programs are cool and keep you occupied while rowing. I have it in front of our back window and while I'm rowing I look at the mountains and imagine there's a lake just below it somewhere. It's a peaceful workout. Just be sure you have the room to set this up and leave it there. It's can be moved relatively easily but it's not something you put away each day. The bar does lift up to reduce the floor space it uses but it is still a reduction. I'd definitely buy this again.

I use my rower 3 to 4 times a week and get a great workout. Since I purchased it 3 months ago I can tell a noticeable difference in my conditioning and core body strength. The machine itself seems indestructable. The only drawback I have found is that the foot straps loosen during a workout and it is a pain to stop and have to retighten when you are in a timed work out trying exceed goals you have set for yourself. Overall I am very pleased!

It's a very good machine when it's working. Adequate resistance and smooth motion. But the motor that controls the resistance must be incredibly delicate, despite the price of the machine. Apparently the gears get stripped very easily. I would not buy this machine unless you have a local retailer willing to make housecalls.

I've had the R100 for several months and use it regularly. I can't run due to an injury and was going crazy trying to find a substitute for aerobic exercise. The R100 fits the bill. An added benefit is that it builds muscle in the upper body as well. I highly recommend this rower.

Love the variety of readings the heart monitor provides as you work out. Different measurements of speed, heart rate, distance, etc... encourages you to increase the level of workout in a suttle way. Would suggest you add $1.19 strap lock to keep foot straps tight. Doesn't get much better in quality.

I have had this rowing machine for over a year now and it is the best machine out there. I tested out over 20 machines and nothing matched lifecore's quality for the price. The machine is extremely sturdy and does an excellent job sculpting and toning every muscle in your body. The only thing a new buyer may want to consider is to make sure you have enough space. I was surprised that even when it was folded up it was still pretty big.

Quiet and smooth operation is important to me and this unit is very quiet and smooth. The various programs on the display are very helpful and provide variety. I particularly like the pulse monitor function to monitor pulse rate.

I look forward to rolling out of bed and having a great workout before work. It is an all over workout.

I have been using the Concept 2 at the gym and this rowing machine is definitely a step up. I was surprised how quiet it is and it is very smooth. The magnetic resistance is really great combined with the air resistance and give a versatile and great workout. My wife also uses it and loves it. It is well built. Also there was a damaged part in shipping and Lifecore shipped a new part right away with no hassles. The computer has a lot of versatility and I really like the heart rate monitor. It is large when not folded and I intend to fold it only when I need the space. Overall I'm very pleased and recommend it without hesitation.

i love this machine. I have nothing bad to say about it. it is very ergonomically correct and an effective piece of equipment.

For a double whammy work out -- upper body strength training and endurance.

I've used this machine to lose weight and develop upper body and leg strength. The computer display is easy to use and read. The machine is constructed of durable materials. I had to replace a couple damaged parts following a move - and the OEM was very helpful in providing cheap replacement parts. I recommend this machine.

I had three cervical spine surgeries and my rowing machine is helping me get back to a good fitness level. I love the different levels and programs available because of the flexibility they afford me. It was easy to assemble, even for me, a female who lives alone. This is a great rowing machine and I love rowing machines!!!

I really enjoy working out on the rower. I feel like I get a really great workout in a short amount of time. My only complaint is that the foot straps become loose and you have to tighten them. Otherwise, so far it is an awesome machine. My kids really like to row on it too.

I've allways thought I kept myself in pretty good condition but at age 54 in the middle of remodeling my house on May 4th,2007 at 5:00 AM my wife called 911. The next morning (lucky to be alive)I was informed that I had sufferd a heart attack and they had performed a 6 bypass surgery on me. Needless to say the next six months were hell. They put me in rehab ten days after surgery where I struggled to walk two miles an hour on a treadmill after two weeks. After about three weeks they let me do the rowing machine, which I really enjoyed. Almost one year to the day of my bypass surgery I now own this rowing machine. I love it! Now I can get the upper body workout my treadmill and bycicle don't give me. I plan on being around to watch my 10 and 14 year old boys play football and baseball for a long time. This machine is going to help make that possible. I have to exercise 30 to 45 minutes everyday, now I enjoy it. If the seat wheels make noise just take the covers off and clean the wheels off, something very small could make them noisey. Oh by the way,I've had two back surgeries and both knees scoped. See you in 30 years!

Well made, easy to set up, very quiet, the vent is a nice touch.

For several years I have lusted for a Concept II erg. I used one in a gym and thought it must be the best, especially since it is used so widely. After finally having the cash and available space I was all set to order it when the LifeCore caught my attention. After reading all the reviews I was really conflicted. I waited another day and finally decided to go with the LifeCore. After using it daily for the last 2 weeks I am totally satisfied that I made the right decision. My experience has been completely positive from the moment I placed the order. The erg was in my possesion 5 days after ordering. The delivery company called in advance to set up a delivery time and they were very helpful and brought it into my garage. Unpacking and assembly took about 45 minutes and was quite easy. The machine itself is a joy to use. I can really find nothing negative to report. I haven't even had a problem with the foot straps as mentioned by other reviewers. After having my heart set on a Concept II for so long I am now satisfied that I made the right choice, thanks to the Retailer's comments and the input from other users (to whom I offer my thanks). I hope my input will help another prospective buyer make the right choice. This is a high quality piece of equipment and I look forward to many years of trouble-free use.

Great Product. Easy to set up and use. One drwback is the locking system for storage. You must hold up the sliding seat portion with one hand while simultaneously screwing in the locking mechanism. Any type of locking system would be better thatn what is there. Overall it is worth the extra effort.

I use the rower as part of my exercise routine, it has proven to be a very good investment.

My wife and I use this machine every night since Nov 2007 (almost every night) and the only fault I found with this is the foot straps do not stay tight. Otherwise it has been great. My wife who never took gym in school or did any type of physical exercise found this rower to be a stress free way to loose weight and get fit.

I am recovering from surgery and had complications of DVT. My doc recommended vigorous exercise that wouldn't put a great strain on my legs. This seems to do the trick, and I enjoy the rowing. It is a big machine, and although it folds, one still needs some floor space for it. A caution-the nicely machined rail that that seat rides on is easily nicked, so be careful about vacuuming around it. If it nicks, then the seat makes a little clicking noise. (We smoothed it out with a fine file) Love the little breeze that comes with rowing fast.

I set up my own home gym after working out at a local college where I work. They had a good sized gym complete with ellipticals, bikes, treadmills & rowing machines. Unfortunately, the only time I could work out was before/after work or during lunch, the same time everyone else on campus was going to work out. The only piece of equipment that was ever available was the rowing machine. I had never used one, but have come to consider it one of my favorites. When I decided to set up a gym in my home there was no doubt that a rowing machine had to be part of the plan. I researched different equipment for over a year - I purchased those 4 pieces: elliptical, bike, treadmill & this rowing machine. It is actually better than the ones in the college gym. I am very pleased with the quality and durability of my Lifecore rower. It is so convenient to be able to go down to my own gym whenever I want and not have to wait for a machine. I decide what and when and how I work out and I am so happy with my choices. I set a [$] budget and was able to get great quality machines within that range. Machines that will last a very long time. Plus I was able to purchase an LCD TV, DVD/VCR combo, set of elastic bands, and a duraball-in that budget!!! Now I have everything needed for cardio and strength training! It's great!!!

I was skeptical on the gym-quality claim made when ordering, but I was not disappointed. We've had the rower now for over 6 months and use it 3-4 times a week. This rowing machine is built solid and provides a total body workout. Burns calories faster than anything else I ever used, and does it very quietly as compared to other exercise machines. Definitely thumbs up on the R100 APM Premier Rower!

Very Impressive. It is a nice surprise to row this machine. It's family freindly with a lot of nice options. Its nice to have the convenience of having a home rower as good or better than the one at the gym. Its turning all of us into everyday rowers. Great job.

I had been running 4 miles 6 days a week but developed achilles tendonitis and had to stop. I thought I'd give it 6 months to heal and go back to running. Well 8 months passed and it still hasn't healed. I tried elliptical trainers but they aggravated the injury. I looked in desperation on the internet for some aerobic exercise that would not stress my lower extremity. I stumbled across rowing machines and started doing some research. The Lifecore R 100 was highly rated and I did not find any bad reviews so I bought one. It's a solid machine, it's quiet and easy to use. I like the monitor. I can watch time, strokes, distance, calories, watts. I've only used the preset manual mode so far and have not hooked up the heart rate monitor yet. I'd like to come back in a few months after I start to push myself some more and do another review. But so far I'm very pleased with the machine.

Long, smooth ride allows for better knee closure. Options for types of workout as well as tension in pulls allows for all levels of challenge. Heart rate monitor is great as it tests your commitment to exercise level. Instructions on 4 c batteries was no where to be found; I assume it is related to heart monitor. May have been an oversight.

Very happy with this product. After doing a lot of research and trying out different rowers, I was between this rower and the C2, and am very glad I went with this product. Not only is it simply a better design and construction, but the computer is MUCH more interactive and user friendly than the C2. Other things are: more comfortable seat, more programs, better quality programs, ability to reach the computer while strapped in, ability to control the intensity level from the computer itself not a lever that you cant reach while strapped in, not silent but still quieter than the C2. Mine came with a free heart rate transmitter that is a nice extra. I've read complaints about the bpm being off a bit but if you wet the transmitters with water before use, like it says, it works fine.

If you're looking to mix up your routine, combine an hour with the rower and an hour on a eliptical or tread mill (or go for a run outside)! It's amazing and the burn after your work out is second to none!!

The most important factor in a rowing machine for me is the smoothness and evenness of the resistance. This machine is ideal, combining a flywheel with magnetic resistance. There are also plenty of settings, from light resistance for an easier workout, to heavy resistance for serious core strength training. I've had this rower for only a few weeks, and already I feel a noticeable difference all around--arms, legs, abs, back, chest; everything feels much more 'connected' because everything gets worked out efficiently. I can't imagine a better exercise, and it's worth getting a machine of this quality to do it right.

recovering from surgery this rower is helping me recover my stength and speed with the sprint feature. I started at 375lb and have lost 45lb.I feel much better

Very nice and dependable unit. Extremely sturdy and has the most comfortable seat on the market. Also really like the rowing options and the control panel's ease of use. DEFINITELY worth the money if you're serious about spending some quality time on a rowing machine.

I've been very pleased with the machine. It's well built really more sturdy than I expected. It has features that allow me to race against another boat or simply just row. After looking at a lot of machines it was the best on the market bar none.

I'm a former rower. I used the Concept2 in high school (model b) and college (model c). Yes, I'm that old. So, of course, I went looking to buy a C2 when I wanted to get an erg for my house. After trying a lot of different machines, I came away surprised -- while, of course, the C2 was familiar, this LifeCore R100 was actually what I preferred. It's stable, build like a rock (like the C2), but actually pleasant to row. It's a bit smoother, the feet are set a slightly wider apart and lower down -- basically, allowing me to get full compression at the catch without needing the complete flexibility I had in college. Computer programs are awesome, the pull is smooth, and it's a lot quieter than the Concept2. If you're training for the national team ... of course, get the Concept2. Anyone else, I'd recommend this LifeCore without hesitation.
